Seat strength members / extra support
Hi all,
It was posted a while back but cannot find it - possibly deleted?? Has anyone got the dimensions for the extra seat supports (hopefully some nice ones from Fabby) as I will be using ali for the floor and need the extra support for safety and of course the eventaul IVA. The ones between the sides and tunnel. What are people using - 40x3, 19x19, 25x25??? |
i gave andy all the dimensions for fitting fabbys seats a while back. If he has lost them then i will go out and re measure for you.
think i used 40 x 4 as its what i had, but even with the metro runners which are an inch high the seats are pretty low. im considering putting some spacers under them to make my seating position a bit higher. |
Cheers Ash,
had a chat with Andy - would it be possible to get the measurements again??? Pretty please. Not too worried about being sat low - 6ft 2 with stumpy legs so body is about 5ft10, just need to make sure i'm below the roll bar. It will be easier to raise the seats if needed. |
Can anyone help with the spacing for the extra supports for the seats???

sorry i forgot to reply to your pm. im a bit forgetful you have to keep nagging me :D

![]() ![]() ![]() Its amazing what you can do with a few hours work, a drill and some flap disks. The secret to stripping them is grinding back the surface to expose the spot welds, drill them out and then lever of the sundry bits. A coat of paint and you have some nice runners. I cheated, I strapped them down on the Bridgeport table and milled the top of. It vibrated a bit! |
That looks good Spikehaus - any details of what you actually did? My seats are still in the workshop - ideal for sitting back with a cup of tea and biscuit and admiring the days work:p

The basic runner assembly is quite simple, but the drivers seat has lots of extra parts welded on for height adjustment, seatbelt anchoring points and seat mountings. I simply just cut off everything that was welded to the rails. I should have taken photos of all the bits removed. Guess I to busy cutting to remember.
