Someones pride & joy that is

flyerncle 21st September 2009 08:17 PM

I would love to test that one !
Truth be told and no one reads this anyway,I was stopped from testing by my old Boss as I am a tw*t or so I have been told .I ran an MOT scheme report on myself and every fail value came "Abnormal" need I say more?

Bonzo 21st September 2009 08:39 PM

A man after my own heart ;)

Personaly I like to know that my daily driver is likely to remain safe for the next 12 monts.

I have had to clear up the aftermath of some fully ticketed motors

One of my fovourites is peeling off newly welded plates with a screw driver

Pet hate !!?? brake pipes that show even the slightest signs of corrosion.

Lost count of the times that I have changed a pipe as a precaution ( Knowing it would pass with an advisory note issued ) & just to find that the slightest bend causes the pipe to fracture

They used to do it with new Nissan models Andy.

Ronnie I know what you mean, the only ticket I would have issued that plastic pig would have been a PG9.
Unfortunate thing with testing is the human element, insted of reading the manual people interpret it in their own way,I have been "at it" more years than I care to remember and have never had any problems with VOSA/Ministry.
Brake pipes are the bain of any tester and I have seen them failed for light rust,I may be wrong and have been many times, rust is the start/cause of corrosion and on the many occasions I have attended courses/refresher training they have always said if it is pitted fail it if you are not sure advise.
If you are wrong God help you when there is a problem.
I hate testing cars!!!!!

what a shit job how did i ever get talked into that one
some love it me i thought it was complicit and crap

That is one very nice car but then I was diagnosed as being blind and a complete and utter liar today..:D :D

flyerncle 24th September 2009 06:12 PM

Boo Hiss Les the ex VI man !!!!
I understand Les but all the one's I have known/dealt with have been great and as I said before had no problems in the million years I have tested.
I have met one or two who see it as a crusade rather than employment and that tends to be "them and us " but hey ho life goes on and at least you have seen the light and left it.

Cheers.

Chris Gibbs 24th September 2009 08:38 PM

Most of the testers I've met tend to be decent sorts.

The main problem is the lack of clarity in the regulations and the inability of those in charge to make clear decisions when abiguity arises. People like to know where they stand and it's a bit of a moving target.

Cheers

Chris :)

flyerncle 24th September 2009 08:44 PM

Nothing from Vosa/VI is ever definative as no one will lay their head on the block and say "Yes" and the bosses are loathe to back up the men on the ground for the same reason and that is from the horses mouth.

Cheers All

Bonzo 24th September 2009 10:12 PM

Were you the one

Hey Les

I had a GV9 prohibition slapped on my clapped out ( I mean, pristine ) Bedford CF van. :o

This was about 30 years ago

Was it you per chance :D :D
