Anyone know an upholsterer?

I've been let down the guy who was supposed to be making the seat pads and headrest for the single seater, does anyone know of an upholsterer who wants to be famous?

Basically it's a setbase pad, a seatback pad and a headrest

A good write up in the book awaits the lucky winner.

Cheers

Chris :)

My Sister-in-Law has a degree in Textiles but lives up in Edinburgh. Although they are planning on relocating down in Hartlepool early next year....

Seat pads? Headrest? in s Single Seater - you're getting soft Chris:D

Decent bucket seat and be done with it:D - or is it too narrow:confused:

Chris Gibbs 29th October 2009 10:55 AM

The seat is part of the chassis, with adjustable pedals, hence the pads and the headrest is an IVA requirement these days ;)

Andy and Andy, I'll give you a ring.

Cheers

Chris :)

I see, so there is a chassis plate acting as the seat base, the pad is just a pad?

My initial thoughts on the bucket would have involved a high back with integrated headrest;)

How is it coming along? I know I need to finish the roadster, but wouldn't mind adding a single seater to the collection:D

350mm width?? who are you trying to kid? your fat ass wont fit on that chris :D

Balidey 29th October 2009 01:48 PM

My father knows someone that does it for a living, but usually for historic racing cars, so not likely to be cheap. If you want his details I can get them for you.

Oh contraire young Ash my boy, I fit very nicely. :p

I'm like the tardis in reverse or something, smaller on the inside.

The seat is made from aluminium panels fixed to the chassis

The car's coming on very well, as is the book, few more bits and we're off for the IVA. The book's due out when Haynes can fit it into their production schedule, they're bucking the trend and expanding into other sujects with some cracking books - Look out for their classic aeroplane manuals, I've got the Spitfire and Lancaster books and I'm waiting for the Tiger Moth book.

BTW I'm looking for free not cheap Steve!

Cheers

Chris :)

IVA?? I didn't know it was intended for road use?

Or are you using the IVA as a check?

Bonzo 29th October 2009 03:28 PM

I believe it is going to be a road legal single seater

Just think.............. Full blooded. Road legal mayhem :D :D :)

Balidey 29th October 2009 04:17 PM

Hence the need for wipe clean vinyl seat covers :D

Chris Gibbs 29th October 2009 05:27 PM

Oh yes, fully road legal - should turn a few heads down the shops ;)

Cheers

Chris :)

We're all going to have to upgrade to double garages though, OR have a unit / workshop to show them off in......:)

HI
Will staurn sports cars be making the parts fo the new single seater and body panels?

Chris Gibbs 29th October 2009 09:34 PM

Saturn now own the moulds for the bodywork for the single seater and 3ge components have all the chassis and suspension part drawings.

Hopefully they will be geared up for parts as soon as the book is out.

Cheers

That's easy, was speaking with the other half about this last night.

She (very) willingly offered to 'store' the Roadster for me.

I've got a double garage, but won't have room to build if there is already a motor in there. I'm gonna build it over winter if poss, then she won't be so tempted to 'borrow' the roadster.

And if I'm driving one, she has 'volunteered' to drive the other for me

Hello Frankie,

Saturn will be supplying the bodies for the single seater and as much as everything else. It is going to be a fantastic project for all involved......:)
