Got our golf out the garage, now have a space...
It's been a long time comming, tiffany was taken off the road in Jan 2008 due to a rotted seat belt mount which co-incided with #2 child. Last summer I put in a Polo GT 75BHP efi engine... And it's taken till now to get it finished off to a state that she's ready for MOT. It was fun getting it out of the garage. There were 3 cars in the way. #1 The wifes old V6 Mondeo, conect the battery and she always starts on the button. Shame she's going to be stripped but not worth fixing the bits for mot.. Anyway. She happily drove onto the neigbours drive. #2 The XR4x4 Turbo Technics. Strated ok, moved her as far as possible towards the road end of the drive leaving room for other cars to exit. She cut out when stradlign the pavement whislt manovering... Forunatly started back up again.. #3 My beloved Sapphire 24V Conversion, fired on the button as usual. Reveresed past the 4x4.. Fiered her onto the neigbours drive and she cut out.. And would not restart... OH Arse!!! #4 The golf.. Started up and moved the furthest she has moved with the new engine. All the way doen the drive onto the road, could not find 1st. Found R, 3 ... Eventualy fourced her into 1st and fired her on the neighbours drive... Then started the reverse procedings, Rigging the feed to the Sapphs fuel pump. Got her back on the drive. Mondeo Caused no problems apart from runnign over the lawn sprinkler. Moved the XR4x4 back up the drive and then slotted the golf back on the drive... Job Jobbed... I was then expecting to pop to my M8's offices and spend the rest of the day settign up Network Servers, but he had got stuck with a customer ( 1hr became 2 became 6...) So I spent the rest of the day pottering arround and tidying up the garage... I now have a 3x5M space in the garage... It's soooooo tempting to put the chassis up on stands But I need to finsihe the Sapph for ford fair on Aug 8th.... I know that if I put the chassis in thegarage then I will start working on it.. I must get teh Sapph Road legal... AAARG... TT |
TT,
Sounds like a busy and rewarding day. How long to get the Sapphire finish? |
the full list of jobs is long, the esentials run to a few items.
She's been off the road for 10 years, I think the MUST do list is Replace rear calipers Torque up rear suspension EASE brake lines near ABS valve block as they are almost rubbing he engine Replace screen Fit ABS sensors Mot A-Pillars for later door looms Fit ECU mounting braket. Swap wheels. Mod modded tunnel so I can get the seat bolt back in Refit dash. MOT Tracking.. TT |
I miss my brothers Turbo Technics sierra :( was a hoot, was only a GLSi DOHC ESTATE! but man did it fly
|
yeah the twinc can produce some good power and torque on the turbos
|
Blimey - I thought I was taking on too much:)
Total respect! |
I seem to be fitting suspension bushes to wishbones....
TT |
TT I'll happily take them off your hands to make sure the temptation isn't there to work on the roadster. No fee, mates rates and all :p :D

Well the chassis is in the garage now, and I will be fitting all the suspension bushes today.
Would be done by now but I had two little helpers who kept on picking up big hammers, Knifes etc.. Started spraying them too. |
Well it's taken some time, MOT man was on holiday and been quite busy.
But I got it back a week and a half ago with.. 1) Rear Brake hose twisted. 2) Non functional rear lights. 3) Non functional Horn 4) Shock Leaging 5) Excessive chassis corrosion. Sorted them all except the brake hose, Chassis was a tricky area by the beam on the inner sill but managed it in one evening ( thankfully the beam had already been loosend before ). Lef the brake hose to the garage. Dropped it back on Saturday. Now has a fresh MOT :) All the parts needed were in my garage so with my time not accountable... £54 total outlay .. BRILL :) TT |
