Wikipedia entry

Hi all,

I've just started a Wikipedia article on the Haynes Roadster. Please take a look and add or correct something if you feel like it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haynes_Roadster

Also, could someone contribute a nice photo they own? Ideally the author would release it under a Creative Commons, GFDL licence, or better yet dedicate it to the Public Domain.

not got much but feel free to use any photos from my build thread.

Don't be surprised if it goes missing. I had a page on the TurboTechnics Minker and that went.

Made a couple of tiny amendements...

well done Alga, If some pictures are added, this entry to wikipaedia just helps to spread "the good message".

Ash

How are you finding 'living' with roadster since it has been finished?

AshG 8th July 2010 03:46 PM

underpowered but other than that bloody fantastic.

davidimurray 8th July 2010 04:22 PM

How many rampaging horses did you find on the dyno ?

Spikehaus 8th July 2010 06:46 PM

Underpowered...:( So my stupid idea of craming in a v6 may be worth all the hard work then!:)

twinturbo 8th July 2010 06:51 PM

Hows the V6 going anyway, yours is the closest thing to mine really except I don't have the complication of the MFI system , but I have two extra exhaust ports to contend with..

Well it has about 90hp at the flywheel around 75bhp at the wheels. It goes well but struggles past 90-100mph. Don't get me wrong its fast but its not rip your face off crap your pants scary fast. All depends what you want at the end of the day. Personally I just fitted the 1.6 for an easy life getting through the iva with the intention of driving it round for a summer then replacing it with something mental.

Spikehaus 8th July 2010 07:46 PM

I am currently having a nightmare with the fuel injection. I had it all working fine, but now I am rebuilding all the orignal K jet injector hoses from the metering head.

I have ordered some bespoke stainless steel braided hoses at a cost of £130 to feed the 6 nr injectors from the metering head. That should sort out the niggles. Apart from that the only bit that is not working is the cheap horns I purchased of ebay!

TT, there is this faction called "deletionists" on Wikipedia who think that some material should not be in it. Mostly they object to things that look like original material, descriptions of things from fictional universes, or things that do not have many hits on Google. Since Haynes Roadster even has a book published about it, it would be hard for them to argue that it's not significant or verifiable enough.

Also, I think the list of built cars with nicks is not needed, a mention that there are 13 known cars on the road as of July 2010 will suffice. As for the legal matters, they are not specific to the Haynes Roadster in any way, just a reference to a separate page about the IVA process would be enough.

Ash, thanks for the pic, but I presume Adam Wilkins is its author? We will need his licence in order to use the pic. I'll send him an email. I was actually thinking of a particular bloke with nice orange publicity pics and a vested interest in the popularity of the Roadster :-)

twinturbo 9th July 2010 10:57 PM

Remove or edit it, that's the point ;)

I need to spend more time on the forum Alga.

What a great idea and article, there's lot more could be added to. I'll e-mail you some pics Alga, got some really nice ones from track and magazines - all have said to there is not in problem in using them.

I'm sure Chris Gibbs would be fine over this to, he is coming upto saturn on Tuesday to discuss the single seater so will chat with him about it then and see if there is anything else he would like to add to it.

Cheers Alga......AndyH
