Finished Car

For those of you who will not be able to get to Exeter kit car show to see it in the flesh, I thought I would upload a few pics.

The car is finished except for a little bit if trim on the seats etc.

Any comment appreciated, especially if you think I have missed something for iva.

Cheers

Gus

Well done Gus

That is looking awsome Gus

Fingers crossed that i'll be able to get up to Exeter to see the build in the flesh :)

I bought the same rear lighting, nice to see they look the part ( Mine are still in the loft ) :o

Well done, a tip top job :)

Tilly819 25th August 2010 10:04 AM

HandyAndy 25th August 2010 10:08 AM

That is looking stunning Gus

A huge well done on building a very striking Roadster:cool:

May I ask what you have made the boot lid cover from?

cheers
andy

gus 25th August 2010 10:12 AM

Funny you should ask that Handy.

The first rear panel I had delivered from Triton got broken by TNT right above the cut out for the rear suspension. Mark made me a replacement & I got to keep the original.

Cut it up into a few pieces. Hey presto... boot lid :D

 I like it, & what a great way of using something that was damaged beyond its original intended use :)

Now where can I find an orange damaged tub???? Spuuuuuddd lol:D

again Gus, thats one nice Roadster, you must be very proud of it:)

just looking at the pics again, where have you put the side repeaters? just about to fit mine.

cheers
andy

spud69 25th August 2010 10:20 AM

Thats looks really good Gus, green and black looks nice together.

The only thing i would check is that you've got the 30deg forward on the front wings, they're probably okay but look a little far back.

Well Done...AndyH

gus 25th August 2010 10:30 AM

Handy,

If you look at the second picture, you'll see a small orange repeater in the side of the rear wheel arch.

Spud,

The cycle wings were put on with markings on the wheels. Following some advice I had, I put a spirit level vertically down from the front of the arch, and it is in front of the metal parts of the wheel.
All I can do is wait and see. I think I have covered all areas, but there is bound to be something.

Cheers

gus 25th August 2010 11:38 AM

I'm still in the process of filling in all the paperwork, and getting some pictures together to send off.

I'm hoping to get it all away by the end of the week.

mark 25th August 2010 12:08 PM

Looks great :D

Be good to see another one passed and on the road

davidimurray 25th August 2010 01:03 PM

Car is looking fantastic gus. You should be be very proud of what you have built.:D

Out of interest do you have any pics around the front suspension to show how you have protected all the edges?

Davey 25th August 2010 01:09 PM

that's looking damned fine Gus, just out of curiosity is the air filter ok for IVA protruding through the bonnet like that? I thought it would be a no no like that.

D.

gus 25th August 2010 01:17 PM

There are other cars that have been through IVA with the filter sticking through the bonnet. The nuts that hold the filter together are dome headed and the edges are folded over on the chrome covers. Should be ok hopefully.

Failing that I'll get some more rubber trim out!!

Cheers

SeriesLandy 25th August 2010 01:23 PM

Is there a grille on the front, in pic 4 it looks like it but not in 3.

Also how have you calibrated you speedo, is there adjustment on the unit? I plan to mine for for the iva and change it when I have the money.

spud69 25th August 2010 02:11 PM

My first one passed SVA with the exact same filter on and was fine - as you say rolled edges and dome head nuts.

The speedo will be fine if you've used the same circumference tyres - look like 15" so 15x50 is fine.

Good Luck.....AndyH

ps - dont let yourself get stressed over it, its not too bad

Davey 25th August 2010 03:08 PM

Fair enoughski, just wondered.

D.

gus 25th August 2010 04:02 PM

As you say Andy tyres are 195/50/15 with original clocks, so hopefully speedo will be fine. There is a grill fitted. It is made of diamond shaped perforated sheet, so if you get it at the correct angle it looks like it isn't there.

Cheers

I agree, looks superb. Well done.

Can you remember what height from the floor you mounted the seats? Mine are 75mm and i can only just see over the big sierra steering wheel. How's yours?

les g 25th August 2010 07:39 PM

flippin fantastic gus
well done mate thats a real credit to you
you,ve set the bar very high for your mate davedew
cheers les g

chrisxr2 25th August 2010 08:31 PM

Nice

looks nice, loving that colour

alga 25th August 2010 11:12 PM

The stock tyre size on the Sierra was closer to 195/55R15, so 195/50R15 will overread by 3.5%. This is well within the 10% margin, but most speedos overread by 10%-ish even on correct tyres...

gus 26th August 2010 08:44 AM

Albert,

The standard sierra steel wheels on my donor used 185/65/14 tyres which should convert pretty close to 195/50/15.

Gus

mark 26th August 2010 12:08 PM

Im on 195/50/15 with a standard sierra dash cluster and he said my speedo readings were perfect at iva so i wouldnt worry about it :)

Enoch 26th August 2010 07:51 PM

Very nice indeed. Do you know what that paint colour is called? Is it a RAL colour? It looks very close to what I am looking for. I will only be doing the wheel arches and nosecone in that, the rest will be white.
Enoch

davedew 26th August 2010 10:36 PM

It is ral6018 yellow green. It looked the closest to Kawasaki green when gus picked it.

Enoch 27th August 2010 08:20 AM

Thanks davedew, methinks me will be ordering some of the same. Looks mighty fine to my eye.

gus 27th August 2010 10:10 PM

HI
Thanks for all the kind messages .
DAVID 17 i used 40 x 3 flat across the car .Then used CBS seat runners welded to 25 x 25 shs.

Gus

DaddyA 28th August 2010 09:08 AM

Hey Gus,

car looks great, good luck with the IVA,

Can I ask what have you done to the top harness mount area (sharp edges etc)

gus 28th August 2010 09:24 PM

Hi Daz

I used end caps that fit 50 x 50 shs .Cut edges and drilled a hole to match harness. all photos are at work, will post 1 on tuesday.

Gus

davidimurray 29th August 2010 12:01 PM

Quick thought Gus - you still have the washer stalk on the column - is that acceptable as you don't have any wipers?

Yes it is, recent IVA, switch with no wipers, no comment.

gus 31st August 2010 10:15 AM

Here is that picture I said about.
