Mikemph build

Few pics of the bits I have made so far. It has been fairly straight forward as a few years back a friend and I made a CNC plasma cutting machine.

I am trying to get everything made ready so when my chopsaw and wood comes for the build table and chassis I can crack on and get it made ASAP.

Nice progress

Well done on your progress so far :)

Tis probably a great feeling to have those job's out of the way.

I remember dreading the cutting of all the chassis plates ..... Mind you, me no got a CNC plasma cutter :D :D

They look really neat Mike, rack extensions look the part.

Can you and your friend make me a cnc plasma machine, sick of waiting for parts to be cut all the time.

Keep it up....AndyH

Well the machine belongs to work but it was our project when we were apprentices. We are considering buying it when the time comes, as we only have jobs for about 2 years.

It still needs some more time spent getting the cuts perfect, which will come when we get the torch height controlled properly.

If you ever get really stuck for any parts that don't need to be perfect, give me a shout I'm sure we could sort out something.

Thats a great way to start your build Mike  ,
some nice fabrication work all prepped ready for the chassis:cool:

May I ask......what length did you make the steering rack extensions?

cheers

I made them 130mm... From the info I found most people do them between 120-130mm is that right?

Thats some nice neat welds there Mike, have you got a can of anti splatter to hand?

mikemph 14th January 2011 02:30 PM

I do have a can some where but never used the stuff, does it work?

No not really as the heat burns it off first...!!! Much better to use an old file and knock the spatter off yourself as it then lets check to see if you have missed any welds.

i find it helps on stuff thats say, next to the item thats being welded for eg when your adding something to the chassis and its getting splattered, just a quick misting normally helps

Talonmotorsport 15th January 2011 10:41 AM

yes thats how it's intended to work, reducing the chances of splatter sticking to fresh ground steel or shiney new ERW.
