transit drag ends
setting the wishbones up and pu in the drag ends great
put on the sierra hub front put in the alloy mushrooms pushed in the drag ends BUT VERY LITTLE THREAD COMING THROUGH THE MUSHROOM can anyone tell me what is wrong::eek:  |
Probably the hole in the mushrooms for the drag link is not big enough. It should be tapered and of a size so that when the drag link nut is done up hard a couple of threads show past the lock nut. The other possibility is that the top part of the mushrooms are too thick. You need to get your vernier out and check the dimensions. Check the diameter of the drag link taper and compare it to the size of your hole first.

Mine was the same
I guessing that there must be two differing lengths of thread on the drag links depending where they come from My mushrooms were from 3GE and i had to get them reamed out a little to ensure the thread was through the nyloc nut with a few threads extra But many others have used 3GE mushrooms with no problems So you either need to get some drag links with a longer thread or modify the mushrooms to suit |
that sorts the problem i will get the mushrooms modified to suit the ends
hey many thanks to all |
Sounds like you are really cracking on with your build
cheers andy |
hi andy
the frame all done the diff is in the rear hubs are on on to the front and then the steering rack not correct and some other probs but were getting there should be ready for 2020 with any luck :D :D |
Depending how much it is you could grind a bit off the bottom of the mushroom to allow more thread to stick through.

re...problems.....they are the fun/challenge of each individual build, a great feeling when you "resolve" the problem  cheers andy |
i have a little Q to do with this i have a draglink fitted to a 3ge mushroom and noticed theres hardly any movement to allow the suspension to travel up and down befor the draglink is at its limit
or is this just me? and where the hell am i sposed to find locknuts to lock the draglink ends to the upper arms? |
Baz,
What you have noticed with draglink movement is how it is on all of the roadsters. I think it is one of the things Ash thinks caused his ali adjuster to fail, by pulling on the draglink once it had ran out of movement. Any nut & bolt supplier should be able to get the M18 half nuts for you. If not you can get them on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M18-x1-5-RIGHT...item4153126238 Cheers Dave |
Its true that there is not a huge ammount of articulation before the joint is at the limit of its movement but in reality unless you have the suspension set very soft it doesnt reach its limit.
On the road I have my dampers (gaz)set to about 17 of 30 clicks and im confident it wouldnt run out of movement, any less and it doesnt handle as well anyway (in my opinion) on track i stiffen them up a little more. |

i had a trupart draglink end and it was shorter than the moprod one i had if that helps |
What make of drag links are people using?
I got a Qh one today and no joy, the thread doesn't even come through the nut when in the mushroom (3ge). Measuring the taper and thread on the ball joint there is not enough thread for the thickness of the top of the mushroom. Wondered if another make had more of a thread on. |
I have this same problem, I have 3GE mushrooms and The drag links are part of a set from EDS Motorsport.
Any i deas of which draglinks fit the mushrooms properly? |

![]() ![]() Have you tried your TREs in the Sierra upright yet. Mine didn't fit. Gaz |
while i was at my very frendly autofactors getting my draglink's thay had some old stock wich i had but guy there said qh are the only people listing now and are most likely to be making all new stock for all the other supplyers now
same thing for the maxi balljoints :D |
Tried the track rod ends in and the are slightly to small, starting to look like the EDS deal wasn't so good after all :(
