My Builed Thread
The time has come!!!!! and the smile on my face is huge!!!
Received my stage 1 chassis kit from Andy yesterday so today i got busy starting to put it all together, thought i'd pop up a build thread to track my progress, throw some ideas about etc. I'm building the chassis at my unit as there's more space, it's warm, lightings good and most importantly i've already got a solid work table to use. The table i'm using is a roller blind table ( i manufacture/install window blinds) and the table was setup and bolted down perfectly level, so it's a good base. I've attached a sheet of 15mm mdf and screwed it down tight so this will be the base. Build area ![]() After unwrapping Andy's superb chassis pack i started to lay it out and get an idea of where it all goes, pretty quickly layed it all out and began to mark up the base board. Laying and marking up ![]() Eventually had it all marked and most parts blocked in, left it this evening with just two bars needing placing in. ![]() |
![]() ![]() All going well so far, just need to check all the measurements and placings a few more times and i can begin tacking it together. A huge smile on my face now i'm underway. |
Looking good bud, just remember to remove all those rolls of fabric before you pick up the welding torch;) . I look forward to following your build.

Well done Chris, it's so much easier with a pre-cut kit - so Handy.....;)
You ordering Stage 2 tomorrow.....:D |
Thanks guys, the support means alot as always.
Yes, i've already let Andy know i'll be needing stage 2 in a week or two's time, i thought it would be a month between stages but i can see the chassis together in a month at most. I'll try and get things like suspension brackets, steering rack etc ordered ready to attach. Chris |

Sorry i don't follow? swmbo? Certainly is very exciting, i was really surprised how quickly i had the base layed out, i thought i'd be marking out the table for a good day but to my surprise it took about an hour to lay it out. I've spent about 2 hours on it so far. Thanks for all the comments. |
She Who Must Be Obeyed ;)
AKA .... Er indoors, The trouble & strife, The other half & my favourite .... Honey Bunny :D :o Well I have to say that, might want to spend some more money on my build :D |
Ohhh!! :o
Yes no problems there, i've simply not broken the news to her yet ;) |
I'm not a betting man but I'm willing to bet she already knows mate believe me its' a talent that they all seem to have
|
I took HID over to Saturn ( after I had bought the chassis and when I wanted the wishbones ) and she went out first in Andy's car.
The grin on her face when she pulled up was enough to confirm approval of the project :) TT |
I did the same! lol was a picture

It will involve completion, by other half, of a multiple choice questionnaire, eg: Amount of hours allowed on build without the "you think more of that car then me" being thrown up How many cups of tea brought out per day Xmas and birthday presents sacrificed for build parts Amount of spend allowed per month Acceptance of mood swings and grumpiness When the swearing and banging emanates from the garage to give the builder a wide berth for an hour or so Build budget allowed each month - including IVA costs And So on If the second half is in acceptance of these conditions then a test drive in a roadster will be given and hopefully, with a big grin, the second half will sign the SHAT certificate and the build can commence :D Andrew :D |
