Been Playing with the tig this evening

Just doing the finishing touches on the engine swap now and one of those little jobs that has been hanging around for a while is to make a new battery box for my new little race battery.

got a new pedal for the tig the other day so thought it would be rude not to test it out, so i decided to make the battery box out of 1.5mm ali.

here are the results. dont think they are too bad considering that i havent welded ali for over 6 months. gave it a good brush with some emry paper to get a nice brushed effect. all i need to do now is make the retaining strap.

I think he's been playing with his TIG more than he's letting on...

Dowe Egberts Senseo all the way for me, didn't rate it at all till the wfire bought me a machine for Christmas - can't get enough of it now!

Oh hang on, sorry, forgot this was a car forum - Nice tray Ash! Hope your going to treat your Exocet to some nice little trick bits too.

i got the holder and espresso cups in a little shop in France called casa. if you want i can get you one they are about 10-12 euros from memory.

Cheers Ash, that would be great. Let me know next time your going over and I'll sort you out some money.

AshG 20th March 2011 10:36 PM

i have family that live over there so will get one sent over asap as long as the shop still has them.

Finished off the battery box tonight. Its not the prettiest thing in the world but its functional and weighs next to nothing. lined it with foam to hold it nice and tight.

i didnt know if i should punch some holes in it or something along those lines to make it look more aesthetically pleasing. what do you guys think?

andy if you have a normal battery rally design do them pretty cheep. i made this because the rd one wouldn't fit in stupidly small gap i have for a battery now.

davedew 21st March 2011 01:19 PM

Just been doing the samething Ash. Got exactly the same battery as you and thought I could do with a neat holder for it.

Knocked one of these up at lunch last week. Still got to take the film off the ali, but if I do that yet it is more to polish!!
