Stoneleigh 2011

Well gents, my first vist to Stoneleigh this year.... so I'm really looking forward to it!!!!

Do you guys usually meet up or congregate anywhere centrally so I can catch up with you? I suppose head towards the nearest grazing patch for burgers and beer may do it but thought I'd check... ;) :D

Cheers
Matt

Camping? I stayed on the Locost stand last year with a few of the dudes off here. Had a very nice time indeed (despite the weather).

Hopefully we can do it again this year for another blinding get together:) :)

Steve.

Andy my speedo cable snaped on the way to IVA ,only a 5 mile drive. That was the worst feeling knowing you had failed before the test had started.

I will be at the show sunday and monday ,traveling up with the local kit car club.

Just looking at booking camping fro Stoneleigh and H.I.D. has informed me we have a family party on Saturday, that apparently, I must go to! :(

Might be able to make it down Sunday for the day, depends how many sherbets I have Sat night I surpose

It seems camping is one price, regardless of how many nights you stay!?

Looking to got to the Stoneleigh kit car show for the very first time but it seems from the exhibitors list there isn't any support for the Haynes Roadster from companies making parts. Why is this?

because Haynes Roadster builders are so tight with their money that the H/R vendors don't make enough to pay for a booth?

rapidtornado 18th April 2011 07:56 PM

Well sounds like there's a fair few attending, I'm only there on the Sunday so maybe I can find a few of you then.

a very stand in the hall is best part of £500 and as said many Haynes part producers cant warrant that kind of outlay as they would struggle to make it back.

You've hit the nail on the head there Ash, with stand costs / fuel / transport / other fees / lost time its the best part of £1k. Did it last year and with all the advertising throughout the year and the Newark show It's a lot a outlay where the best advertising is through the community and word of mouth. Though it is nice for other builders to see the products and cars at the moment its too much expense for not a good return, there will be plenty of nice and well put together Haynes there to see and our doors are always open to visitors to see products, cars and have a trip out - probably not much help to yourself though Cornish i am afraid. The Haynes roadster market is different to other Kit Car brands where they are showing off full kits and cars to sell whereas the Haynes market is mainly for supply of one-off ancillary products to go with self build projects.

As the Haynes roadster develops and grows i'm sure there will be justification to have a greater presence at shows.....Andrew

cornishmaid 20th April 2011 12:35 PM

The whole point of doing shows would surely be to exhibit your products to a captive audience.? I also understand that the Stoneleigh Show is the biggest in Europe with a fair amount of overseas interest so I would say you are missing out by not taking a stand..IMHO.

We are doing it this year for the same reasons but do not have as far to travel as you

baz-r 28th April 2011 06:53 PM

i wanted to go on me todd for my birthday for the weekend and camp get drunk and spend money on bits for the car but the missus had other ideas. she wanted to go away for the week on holiday. yep and i lost and have to go to greese for a week on a activaty holiday (not all bad realy) i will just have to wait for the next one :)

i will point out that there will be plenty of bits and bobs there that will be needed for your roadster
glue, seats, lights blagh blagh blagh. so still well worth going.

one bloke was selling roll bar kits to fit the roadster but mainly did bits to fit all sorts

if anyone sees any pedalboxes sutable for the roadster please grab some details for me thanks :D (cable clutch, non ballance bar type)
