Just what the roadster needs
3 Attachment(s)
Got some pics below of a mold in progress for a new rear diffuser for the roadster. It's designed mainly to cover in the area under the diff cage area and stop the rear panel acting as an air brake. If it provides some ground effect then all the better.
It's got a bit more work to do but shouldn't too long. |
Looks cool as, any idea on price and when it will be available ?
|
Sweet i will take one off your hands when i order the rear tub.

Looking real good Andy;) ....might have to pop down and check that out, it's nice little details like that which will always keep SSC in good stead... especially ooop ere in N.E.R.D land:D
|
Heh the next cool thing would be a fiberglass scuttle with window frame in 1 bit :D
kinda like this one. ![]() |

Cheers......;) |
Lol not with the enclosed cockpit but just the window frame would be ace. Feel free to use me as guinea pig if you want :D Could also build a rollbar into the rear of the window frame same as in that pic. Would be kinda cool.
But on a serious note if you do make a window frame scuttle i would buy one. Also do count me in on the rear diffuser for sure. |

was going to have ago at making one myself, not if someone else is going do it for me. Terry |
Spud, will these work with an aluminium tub as well? If so i'll happily take one off your hands.
|
I will defo be getting one of these when I get my bodywork, any ideas on price yet?
|
i will have one of them too
Finally something i know anything about in order to get the ground effect you will need to break the airflow up by adding a vertical lip to start the air swirling towards the undertray then the fins speed the air up pulling the rear end towards the floor |
Vortex generators, also fitted to aircraft wings !!!!;)

Will this fit with the rear panel section that was made by Triton? Our car is fitted with the full Triton body panels which we purchased back in 2008, we had a few extras done at the time which Triton intended to put into production but don't think they did so it makes our car rather special.:)

should have a small effect on the road but the real benefit will always be on track and on motorways and as spud said the rear panel will not act as an airbrake to slow the car down other things you could do is some vents in the top rear of the rear arches to unload the pressure build up in them that will reduce the airbrake effect too so should also help with fuel costs

So will the new panel fit the Triton rear panel?
Our rear panel is a bit different to the production version,we were assured however it fits on in same places and dimensions. |
It should do CM, they are built to fit the same chassis dimensions and it will only need to tuck into the bottom return on the rear panel to fasten to the chassis with the rear panel.
You'll have to put up some pics of your car, it's always good to see other roadsters. Andrew |
Thank you for that, we are in the process of putting a web page together showing off our toys and how we made our car so once it's finalised we will post the link up.

Just been on the phone to Mark who was Triton Products to ask him if anyone else had the modified panels like ours and he said yes there were two done in 2008 and both in Cornwall. He also said that the under panel will fit provided the mould has not been altered as he never altered that section of our rear panel.
We had a long chat about anything and everything, which was always the case while we were building our car.He always had time for a chat and helped with silly mundane things. I asked about his ban and the rumours he was getting back into the Kit Car scene but he just laughed and said yes on the car side of things and wouldn't say anything other than laugh about the other. So I guess it's a case of watch this space really. CM |

You loose out too much having a windscreen fitted to this type of car, the wind buffeting is worse with a windscreen fitted than with simple aero screens. It's also like trying to push a door through the air as the screen tends to be quite upright and acts like a sail.

True, but tell that to my Mrs who's worried about her hair blowing everywhere and getting hit in the face by bugs! :D

still i def going the window way as want to get some wet weather gear made up. + with my engine i dont think the window will reduce the power much if anything it will probably help me.... :D

allways good news! Keep up the great work Andy!

Fully enclosed CAN-AM style body next ?;)

have you thought about / making a fully flat floor and side skirts? |
Will have to beat Andy with a stick to get him to do it and he is busy,I will talk nicely to him next time I see him .;)
No F1 styley just nice and aerodynamic with flat splitter under the front to give plenty of steering. |
