This might help by David Murray http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/attac...3&d=1281169664

yeh i dont really understand that lol thanks anyway mate, but i might be better getting someone professional doing it properly for me
Don't be scared off by the wiring, it's really not that hard.
Get a copy of John Dicken's book on automotive wiring, it's really easy to follow. I made my loom from scratch following the book, 1 circuit at a time, and I'd never even attempted anything like it before. |
dont forget 2x side repeaters
thanks aerosam will try to look out for that book
and where are the side repeaters usually places on a roadster, i dont think i have seen any with them? |
thanks mate
Or you could just strip back the donor loom for reuse it which is what I am doing, if you have a haynes manual for the car with it's wiring diagrams it's a fairly simple process and one that needs doing if your going to keep the engine loom for a ECU based engine. What's your donor?
im not goin to be using a donor everything will be brand new
I take my hat off to anyone who makes their own loom,
I hate electrickery  , so even tho I had a full donor car I opted to buy a pre made loom from Premier wiring, for the price of it( £100 xmas special on ebay) & the headaches it saved me & not needing to buy wire, connectors, fuse box etc thought it was money well spent , Alan at Premier is very helpful & will even create a loom to your requirements if you tell him what you need etc. Oooh the sheer thought of making a loom sends shivers down my back :o :D cheers andy |
ive been looking around, will a westfield zetec loom be suitable and does anyone know if its just for the engine or for everything (lights, gauges etc)
link below http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.u...=any&PT_ID=all i know its expensive but unless i have a really easy to understand book or diagrams etc i will never be able to wire to, i would like to for the experience and to have the wires go where i want. |
thanks andy will look in to them cheers
Westfield one should be a full loom, lights etc.Bloody expensive.I would go premier wiring route.

Mines a premier loom, Give Alan at premier a ring hes a spot on guy./
how much did the premier loom cost you, if you dont mind sayin :)
I think it was about £120 ish.
Cant build it yourself for that money plus you know every circuit is using the right rated wire and fuse i think the only thing i had to buy seperate was the relays but i got alan to throw them in the bag and paid for them seperate. |
