yep
after having a play in my daughters 240hp A3 i looked at trying to fit one.
there is a link on here to a custom kiy to rwd and it comes in at approx 2K

This crowd use to put the vw in suzuki jeeps and did adaptors for the toyota hilux gearbox so you could put the 2wd hilux box behind it <tough as old boots>

As eluded too, the gearbox is the crunch point.

There are some tasty engines out there which are restricted by the number of suitable gearboxes.

if anyone wants one i have a 1.8T engine with the big port head and ancylires just lying around would need an ecu for it though
i like the idea aof the hilux box

I vaguely recall a guy in CKC building an Aeon gt3? with a audi turbo engine although cant remember what gearbox he used.

i think one of the porche boxes can be used (old 80's one iirc)

twinturbo 12th September 2011 06:14 PM

I think there are two sizes on the larger audi/vw engine. And most of the front engined porkers use torque tubes and transaxles IIRC.

thanks for all the ideas and help :D

I do wonder if that porch torque tube and transaxle could prove to be a winning idea.....

924's are cheaper than chips if out of MOT..

Its great but its basically an audi transaxle with a tube bolted to the front, there would be no where between the seats to get the bell housing in if you try and keep driveshaft centerline right. I suppose you could trim all the bellhousing off and just run a prop to the input shaft.

Alpha x, Geert in holland had an adapter plate for the type 9 and there is a pic on the forum somewhere.

He is no longer on the forum and has not been for a while.
