What's everyones current build status!! UPBEAT THREAD!

So.. In two ish lines.. What's your build status and on 1 line, what's been a big joy recently on your build.

ME.

vmax1974 16th October 2011 10:25 PM

tkpm 17th October 2011 12:21 AM

Don't be daft Ronnie, get it built, drive it and you will be glad you did

adrianreeve 17th October 2011 02:52 PM

Very nearly there! Need to plumb cooling system, bleed brakes, fit prop shaft, fit the exhaust silencer, do a full nut and bolt check, then map the engine! Feels great to be so close to the end - nearly four years, but only about £4000, and it's got some nice bits like jenveys and Westfield seats!

Cheers

Adrian

I am with mark on this one ronnie it would be just wrong to quit now I know you have thought about it before and I hope you will change your mind again

Anyone thought about getting a proper haynes club together maybe a few social events like track days and european excursion's could help to quell some of the bad feelings on here just all get your cars built and lets go invade the car hating swiss

twinturbo 17th October 2011 04:31 PM

Err Club.. Yeah.... Touchy subject..

rpjg1975 17th October 2011 04:43 PM

Yes, that could open up a whole new can of worms if memory serves...

Twin 17th October 2011 05:19 PM

Just relocated build to Stafford, chassis is 70%ish done with no welder now.

Enjoyed machining the shiny bits! still lots to get (GRP, Coil overs, peddle box)

twinturbo 17th October 2011 05:38 PM

I was born in Stafford, and went to uni there

Sorry to hear this Ronnie. You are one of the guys who keeps me motivated. Be like me just spend a few hours a week on the car. It's the build that's important to me not necessarily the driving around in the end product.
Anyway, hope you change your mind. :)

Just using my bro's garage for storage, not got the room in Chester.

Spikehaus 17th October 2011 06:32 PM

Car is 98 % built, just needs to be stripped for powder coat, plating and final assembly. Remaining 2 % is to fit Hydralic Clutch and permanent fuel lines once I remove the engine & gearbox.

Best part of build, trying to redesign every auxillary component of the Cologne V6 engine to make it work of fit! More importantly, the new mates from Stoneleigh & Exeter Show each year.:)

Honestly Ronnie don't give up your build mate, leave the forum/your build alone for a while.

I think everyone becomes disillusioned with the whole thing from time to time, but you've put so much in to sell it away now. ive a picture of your red chassis in your garden that gee's me on, thinking ill be there soon!

Anyways ive just put the ss1/cp11 assembly's on, going to 'V' prep my tranny tubes and get up early and crack on before work!! or ill just probably snooze in

Cheers Will

Davey 17th October 2011 07:45 PM

Got a day on my build today as it happens.

Chassis is about 90% done, seat belt mountings to do along with back stays on roll bar. Made headlight mountings today and gearbox xmember plus altered the gearchange frame to remove the standard rubber bushings for a more positive shift.

Best part of build? making the inlet manifold.

D.

Jimmyd 17th October 2011 08:52 PM

80% built then stripped for painting. Painted chassis & bones a week ago. Used an industrial machinery enamel bl!!dy stuff is still slightly soft. I so had better not be stripping this again

Cyberbeej 17th October 2011 10:29 PM

Currently collecting parts for the revision 2 version since i built it on a serious budget the first time.

SeriesLandy 18th October 2011 01:44 PM

Very similar position to TT
Chassis rolling, brake and fuel lines fitted, all body work trial fitted, engine in but not running.

However not had any time lately, doing a roof conversion in my spare time and working all the time to pay for my wedding.

Rolling chassis, engine running but needs some tuning. Most bodywork fitted. Really just need to fit front wings, get a propshaft and sort out all the IVA items and she will be ready.

Progress slightly delayed at the moment as I got married on saturday :D :D :D and fly to Florida tomorrow :)

james3004 18th October 2011 04:47 PM

You can't give up on your build now your a mod Ronnie!!

My chassis is rolling with engine in and wiring nearly complete:)

Deanno 18th October 2011 05:17 PM

chassis nearly finished, wishbones done, bodywork getting there ,the new arrival putting a hold on things? YES

really enjoyed designing my "one-off" grill just waiting for it to be authorised to avoid copyrights then get it made.

congratulations to you both, did the weather hold off for you?

rpjg1975 18th October 2011 05:53 PM

Everything been on hold for many months now but been collecting bits and bobs from time to time. Been building the bargain garage I aquired which is almost done then I can get back on with things. I am at rolling chassis stage using dummy shocks. Engine fitted but may need adjusting due to clearance issues.... Need to consult my build guru... Fuel tank, roll bar kit, some body panels, headlights and brackets, wiring and radiator all ready to get fettled and fitted. Good luck to everyone else with their builds

Chassis almost ready (98% finished). Front and rear wishbones, wheels, steering wheel, seats, rollbar are fitted to the chassis.
Nosecone, bonnet, rear wings and scuttle from SSC ready to fit !
Bought a raceline sump for my zetec for more ground clearance, and now i'm waiting for the engine mounts, cat and exhaust from Kitspares.
So probably next weekend i can fit the engine, and do the last welding thats needed and fit the drive shaft.
One week ago i bought on Ebay a K3 ECU from Emerald.
If everything fits, the chassis shall be powdercoated. After that...:) :) :)

So far the status of my build.

After my fallout with SFRO in sweden I lost the will to continue with my build & felt like I had to take a break so I built this recumbent trike using my old mountainbike as a doner Attachment 1342Attachment 1343.
This gave me a good booster & i´m now back on track with my roadster build & will post som pics soon,if everything goes as planed i hope to be driving next summer:).
cheers
