gearbox choice
I currently have a Ford V6 coupled to an autobox. I fancied the fun of the Manual so i Found a V6 Type 9 box with all the extra bits required.
While surfing Ebay i spotted a S2000 6 Speed box which got me thinking......... Does anybody know whats involved in fitting the S2000 box to the V6???? Anybody fitted a 6 Speed box to there roadster????? |
long shaft type9 would be a std ford fit item for the v6
the 6 speed will need work to adapt |
Might be best to go with the type 9 or mt series box as it can bolt straight on. also the honda box + ratios are chosen for an engine that buzzes where as the v6 is more of a low rpm torque monster. There might be a total miss match on the ratios.

I've found a V6 type 9 from a capri and will be fitting that but i was just thinking about other options since i liked my 6 speed box in the golf and boxster. Still find myself going for 6th on occasion. |
You would need to make an adaptor ring to connect the Honda patern bellhousing to the Ford engine.
Many options on the clutch but plate to fit input shaft, cover to fit flywheel, release bearing of correct length/ thickness |

MT75 won't bolt straight on, not unless you find a very rare RWD V6 Box, or a pre-converted box. TT |

You can have too many gears. Things like the boxter, golf and S2000 are capable of HIGH speeds compared to what you want to do in a 7. TT |

Yep euro's had lots of them, there's a few genuine UK RWD V6 MT75's .
Two ways to build one. 1) take any DOHC sierra RWD box, and replace both the front case and the input shaft from the V6 4x4 box. 2) the easier route, take a Scorpio 2.5D and replace the front case from the 4x4 Box. TT |
Where theres a will:)

Ther's also the third way that you have to be careful of when buying a second hand V6 MT75.
Some people got confused at one point and a couple of boxes ( at least ) have been built with a Sierra 2.0 Box having the V6 front case but not the input shaft. NOT GOOD! TT |
Think i'll stick to the Type 9 box i've got, It came off a 2.8 V6 Capri so should bolt straight to the 2.9 V6 unless you guys are gonna tell me different????

You will need a 2.8 Fly and clutch.

starter required
Got them with the box as well as the prop shaft.
Also picked up a Clutch cable at a show during the summer. Only thing i need is the correct starter. Anybody got 1 lying about? |
