MX5 Brake and clutch master cylinder hole centres.

I want to finish the main back plate on my pedal box at lunch time but i'm struggling to find the hole centers for the brake and clutch master cylinders.
I can always drill them later but while i have the opportunity i would rather punch them out as it gives a nice clean hole.

Has anyone possibly got either they could measure for me?

Cheers

Hi Andy,

The backplate measurements are on page 27 of the build guide, this is for the mx5 brake cylinder and after market clutch cylinder. Any problems give us a ring although the car is not here at the moment to take measurements from. It's away at the auto electricians getting the wiring loom re made....:)

Hi Andy
Cheers for the reply. Its only the cylinder fixing hole centers i'm missing, i have done all the other holes from your guide plans. There is no rush though it can wait until i have got the parts to get the measurements from and ill drill them to suit.

Thanks again

Sorry to ask again but can anyone tell me the hole fixing centers of the brake and clutch cylinders.

I can get my pedal box powder coated f.o.c if i chuck it in with a load of stuff at work and it would be a shame to have to drill holes later.

Many thanks

Andy

Thanks for that. I have googled for ages without finding anything.

Just the brake left then now.

Thanks again

I have just found a figure of 80mm centers for the brake master cylinder fixing holes.
Does this sound about right?

I have just measured my brake master cylinder and the centres are 8cm apart. Hope this helps

Fantastic. Thanks for measuring for me!
One last question! What size Are the fixing holes or what size bolts did you use?

Thanks again

the holes are 8.2mm and the master cylinder is 9 mm thick. (hope that helps you to select the bolts) I am planning to use M8 but not sure of the length as I haven't fitted any pedals yet. If you haven't got your master cylinder yet give AK automotive in rowlands gill a call (you can find them on google - really cheap and 1st class service). They also race mx5's so can tell you how to make them go and stop well.

Cheers for all the measurements.I Think I have everything now.
Ill probably put some 9 or 10mm holes in the back plate for fixing.

Any idea why the 36mm clutch hole is 52mm from the edge and not central (50mm)
I thought I had made a mistake when i welded my pivot brackets on and the hole wasn't central. Checked the guide and it definitely says 52mm.

I had a quick browse on AK automotive's ebay page. They have some good stuff at reasonable prices. Ill keep that one in my favorites.

Andy
