Anyone fancy a Ferrari engined MR2, going cheap.......
Just found this on Ebay, does he really think he could get £3k plus for this sh!t heap? Engine doesn't look like its run for a few years and probably will never go again.

This one's more realistically priced but absolutely hideous!

The first one`s real value would not be realised till you got to the weighbridge:rolleyes:
The other one might if ever completed infringe some sort of copyright with trumpton or the crowd that filmed who killed roger rabbit:D Bob |
1st one is a complete joke, its got a knackered old ferrari engine in it in bits, so he thinks its worth 3 grand. The other shocking thing is that the chassis has been cut to bits as well.

MR2 with Ferrari engine:eek: Why not an MR2 with a Ferrari body....
And here is the result of a MR2 "Ferrari" built by a local chap in my part of the woods. The complete conversion can be seen here; http://www.mr2club.co.za/phpBB2/view...c 5084b119bdd But at the end of the day you are still a wannabe Ferrari owner riding a Toyota:rolleyes: ![]() ![]() |
Why do folk bother with rubbish like that, it's a waste of time effort and money as will never be any good and you would need to be some kind of knob to want to drive a pretend Ferrari..:D

When it comes to bodywork look alikes I'm not sure it's ideal for us to criticise people for wanting a replica so long as it's reasonably well put together. At the end of the day it's about using ingenuity and hard work as a replacement for wads of cash - something that makes sense to most of us on here. I'd go one further and suggest these guys are closer to being true fans than the uber wealthy who can shell out for a manufactured original then treat it without care or respect.

If Im not mistaken, all of us building a seven clone are guilty as hell in this regard and are also copying a car we really would love to have.:D |
now i can understand some of the reps but some i dont just get?
i like the idea of somthing like a old jag shape style body (d-e type) with some more modern jag bits and bobs making it cheaper, lighter, better and more relible or one of the v8 cobra reps even the other take i get is a moden restyle rep or an almost exact copy of somthing rare or vertulely unavaible like a stratos copy makes some sence to me ones i dont get are things like a rs200 rebody of a austin maestro or turning a soft jap small sports car into somthing that looks like an italian fire breather that hasnt been about long enough to have any form of cult. i think the only mr2 rebody i thort was any good was that dino but i would have to go v6:rolleyes: |
I don't really see the appeal of what is essentially a heavy bodykit mounted onto an existing car like the MR2. If anything it's going to be slower than if it was just left alone due to the weight.
Has anyone seen the one available for the MX-5 that makes it look like a shrunken Aston Vantage? On the whole though, I have no issue with replica's. Some of them are just incredible and as said, surpass the original in terms of engineering because of the modern parts used. Pick any one of the GT40/Cobra/Stratos replicas for an example. Did anyone see the Diablo replica featured in Complete Kit Car with a custom space frame, and quad-turbo BMW V12?? |
