Just a bit of fun relay
If you where not building a roadster what would it be?
I was very tempted on a mev tR1ke when I seen the prototype witch is now the demonstrator but when I asked about expected kit and build costs Thay where some what inflated to 2x what Thay are now.
Probably have it finished and on the road by now and been a trike it would only need a msva

If money allowed (which it clearly doesn't) I'd love to have started something more racey, such as a GT40 build, or more practically a Spire GTR.

TheArf 30th June 2012 01:26 PM

I think it would be a sebring or cobra, but my ultimate would be a resoration of an Austin Healey 3000

ozzy1 30th June 2012 01:44 PM

Definately an Ultima GTR with an LS7 motor in it.:D

robo 30th June 2012 04:25 PM

I have built quite a few kit cars including cobra`s and a gt40 but the one I keep looking at is the daytona cobra with a big block ford. 200+mph for less than 20k

Well, just about to take on a 64 Split screen VW camper, something my wife and I have both hankered after for over 20 years (and I'm only 38!), and when we've had our fun with that, I think a chesil 356 speedster, then I'll stop! It's slow, and doesn't handle well, but I've got a roadster for that, and I still don't think anyone has ever designed a car more beautiful than the 356 speedster!

Cheers

Adrian

Ive been off at a tangent with a pond recently

Back on with the roadster now though :)

twinturbo 30th June 2012 08:28 PM

Oooohhh

Do show the pond pics.. Just been out and strung a load of filter brushes across the width of my settlement tank.

Bought 6 Grass Carp this morning as well to try and control that bl...y duck weeed.

will_08 30th June 2012 09:15 PM

You must have a big pond! I seen some albino grass carp looked quite cool.

Its only small and ive built it up so the kids dont use it as a pool! Ive dug it down about 2" to try and keep the temp contant'ish

robo 30th June 2012 09:16 PM

Turf out the fish and turn it into a hot tub:)

Bob

twinturbo 30th June 2012 09:25 PM

Probably similar in capacity to yours, 2000L or there abouts. And similar in design.

Give me a Mo....

At my old house I built this pond to replace a small in ground pond. It was built using cinderblock clad with decking boards. I was dead pleased with this one and built a rocking upfloa gravel filter. Ignore my mate, we were doing a roof prior to selling the house..

Sold house (2007) and had to move the fish, they spend a week or two in a bathtub that I got for free and we sat at my mates house.

then they moved into a temporary pond made from 4 upturned desks with spare table tops arround it to make the structure, they stayed there for about a 8 months...

2008 I had a new garage built, landscaped the garden and then stared on my new propa pond. it was built at ground level using wooden fence posts, gravel board and a cavity back filled with concrete mix.

I was relatively happy with it but never got round to realy sorting the filtration. then in early 2011 I found the concrete was failing and the walls were bursting.

I bought 2 IBC's and the fish were transfered into one whilst I dug a hole to put the 2ND IBC in.. well that was the intention but I suffered a Hernia which put things back... September 2011 I bought a load of fake railway sleepers and also managed to get the 2nd IBC in the ground..

Spring this year I finished off, putting the sleapers round, sorting the lower nature pond and putting the original 1st IBC behind the one to act as a settlement/water bulk.

the main IBC is half under ground half above..

ignore the junk, I am still working on the filtration.

Have you tried barley extract? Seems to do the trick for me and my recent raised flower bed pond conversion!!:D With water butt filter! :D

edit oh sorry duck weed I thought you said pond weed!

twinturbo 30th June 2012 11:09 PM

tried bails for alge control and did not work.

I have no alge this year just too much duck weed..

If I was not building a roadster, I think I would renovate an old car, like VW Beetle, Volvo Amazon, or Renault 4 (preferably from my birth year :) )

will_08 1st July 2012 11:00 AM

Looking good TT, i spent ages researching filtration and really wanted a bottom drain but seems costly and loads of work. So i was lazy and went for the bottom pump option.

Good thing is its next to my garage so the filter is in there, bad point more sh!te in my way in there :(

What fish you got in there? local place to me does different koi, 2-3" 5 for Ģ22, im going to make a start with them and see how i get on!

skov 1st July 2012 11:06 AM

I remember when this used to be a car building forum, now it's all fish ponds and cheap kitchens :D

Thought I'd share too! The pond's only 2 months old, use to be a flower bed but nothing grew due to the overhanging bush!

PorkChop 1st July 2012 01:05 PM

If I wasn't building a Roadster, then it would probably be either a Sylva Riot, or a GKD Legend. If I had unlimited money, a GT40 replica.

If it had to be a production car, a bonkers Mini :D

No fish ponds here - takes up valuable garage floor space :D

Nice conversion job, just keep any falling junk out of the pond.

@Will...

Mix of Orf, Common Goldfish, Ghost Carp, Grass Carp, Tench, ... Nothing too exotic.

I had a this guy from ~2" until he died sudenly last summer. The photo was taken 3 years earlier so he had grown a fair bit since..

2010 we had fry in the pond and about 6-7 of them survived which is nice...

CTWV50 1st July 2012 05:02 PM

Yeah I plan on netting in the winter. What's that a ghost carp?

Overhanging bush is never a good thing :D

I would be building a Stratos rep if I had the mula or resurrecting a Viva.

twinturbo 1st July 2012 05:09 PM

Yeah Ghost Carp, I lost about 13 fish in a year ( once big loss due to somone unplugging the circulation system and 02 dropping rapidly in the pond. The Ghostie survived that incident.

I have one small fish at the moment who's in a hospital tank as he has bad damage to both flanks. Hopefully he will pull through. He seems happy enough despite the damage.

Not if I wasnīt build a Roadster it is when I have built a Roadster:D

Next project is allready in the workshop itīs a Fiat 500 Topolino 1942

twinturbo 1st July 2012 07:49 PM

Scary.... It dwarfs the roadster which can't often be a phrased used with a Topolino...

my old boos had been rebuilding one of them for years had it all done looked spot on but the carb that had an internal crack in it passing fuel into the engine making it rich as a pig.

robo 12th July 2012 09:24 AM

I cant believe the the condition the car is in  1942?????? if that was a modern fiat it would be in a wheelie bin after all those years. Progress, what friggin progress:)
