Brake light switch
Someone mentioned a brakelight switch earlier but I cant find the thread so here is an idea I had that I will give a try. There is a brake light switch that is part of a banjo bolt that will screw straight into the brake master, its available in all the common brake pipe threads and there is a banjo brake pipe adaptor on the good old mini. Bring the two together and there is no need for a tee or seperate switch. those banjos are on quite a lot of leyland cars like sherpas and mini`s. A lot neater and cheaper:cool:
![]() ![]() Edit. a better picture of one of the banjo`s ,This one is on a range rover ![]() Bob |
Would you then just continue the brake pipe from the banjo?

I used one on my quad when I added brake lights, only cost about £10 from eBay and that was some obscure pitch thread
Seems like a good easy idea |

surely its easyer to fit a equal tee into your rear brakline and screw a hum drum hyd switch from a mini (imp) or vw (metric)
all in for about £10 m10x1 is a metric brake pipe size but banjos are not that common on car stuff |

This is a candidate for the idea. Skov already has the banjo on his brake master so he could have just got the switch. Job done, now there is a tee there with pipe and fittings with an air trap at the tee. ![]() Bob |
That picture looks familiar :-)
I wont bother changing it now, but i do wish I'd seen these things 6 months ago! |
Turn the tee piece 90 deg to the right and fit the switch to face down.
Definate air trap the way it is. |
I'll wait to see if it's a problem first.
I've already filled the system with fluid, so I don't fancy changing it unless I really have to! |
If you have to open the system and change it,hold the pedal to the floor and it will stop it emptying all over.
We do it all the time when replacing the load of pipes we change with failing MOT's. |

i do dislike having the brake res so low in the system if you get any leak above it,it can letair in  and you louse braking if you have the res higher it will drip out fluid and show its ugly head and the level switch will warn befor brake loss and it makes bleeding harder |
