Do mx5 seats fit?
I've seen a few comments about mx5 seats fitting but also others that say they don't. I know there are a few mx5 builds so was wondering if those seats fit?
They seem like a nice little sporty seat and I'm sure they would be cheap enough. |
They won't fit without some kind of modification.
If you remove the reclining mechanism and weld the back to the base instead I suspect they'd just squeeze in there. |
No problem. Would have been handy for mx5 builds.
So does anyone know of any production car seats that fit? Might be handy to get a list going. |
Some people fir the middle rear seat of first Renault Megane Scenic.

That's a strange one. I expected there to be front seats that fit from small hatchbacks such as corsa, fiesta etc.
I guess there's not much room at all. |
I was suprised by just how small the gap is too, took measurements from a wrecked fiesta we have lying about (oldish, small one) and seats were about 3 inches too wide! Even most bucket-seats are a bit wide!!

mx-5 seats do fit .... after an angle grinder treatment
I managed to build in a pair of MX-5 seats.
But only after removing the hinge mechanism and some more millimeters of metal. And of course seat and backrest welded in a permanent position. Also the sliding mechanism has been used, again with some angle grinding and "rectifying". Eddy |
+1 for Renault Scenic middle/rear seats. Ive recently picked up a nice pair of these in grey leather and am just waiting for the weather to improve now to get out there and put them in. The seating position will be a bit higher than the Cobra backets seats that are in at present. Oddly they weigh about the same despite being better padded.

Didn't you struggle to get 2 the same trim? Especially leather.
I'm assuming you need them from 2 different cars? |
Smart cars have nice seats but I don't know if they are smaller than MX5 ones though
