Steering rack clamps. Rubbers needed?
Just been having a look on rally design website and noticed that their alloy steering rack clamps state that rubbers are not needed.
"Designed to solid mount the Escort racks without use of any bushes." http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product...oducts_id=7335 Are these suitable for the roadster? as I remember reading in the book that it states make sure you get the rubber mounts. |
Yip ally ones with no rubbers just the nylon packer that comes with the clamp.
or use the original ones with rubber that came with the rack |
Great, saves me having to buy rubbers as I am missing one. Thanks

It pays to strenghten the support frame with a strip of 5mm underneath the bolts,as they do twist in service
|
Oh right, I've never noticed anyone do that. Might do that actually
Where exactly would the 5mm need to be? |
If you go to gillham online and download the mx5 build manual there is a picture of the supports on page 11. They just go under the bracket on the opposite side to the rack clamps.

Oh right I had never seen that. Well I guess I wouldn't have bothered as trying to stick with book spec.
Oh and thanks for the steering extensions david, received them today. |
