is there any way of finding out what the ohms are on the fuel gauge
im going to use the standard dash out of the donor 1982 sierra

Why not just use the standard Sierra unit you can always extend the feed and level arm? You can buy new ones from Kit spares for £20 they are easy enough to lock into place with four small tabs tacked in place then knocked over.

IIRC the Sierra fuel sender has a range of 60..160 Ohm or thereabouts. I just adapted the innards of the Sierra fuel sender.
