Upgrade form 2.0 Pinto to 2.9i

Hi Guys, i have got my car ready for the MOT, but i am outa work due to ilness so i need to keep my sanity, so i am going to sell my 2.0l pinto and Type E G box and go for a manuel 2.9i Colonge engine. was going the 24v cossy but that to much.
So if anyone here can help out with what i need wiring wise for the engine, i dont think i need the key but i need to make sure, its not that much of a modern engine but i am no good with electrics.

Alos if anyone wants a good Pinto with box let me know, aswell as i am after a 2.9i cologne and maunel box, type 9 for the size a MT75 is a bit big for my car.

wolly:)

i dont think you will find a std type9 will be strong enough for the 2.9 24v unless you spend a massive wad of cash on it

200bhp is the limit for a hd uprate and aroud 150 for a std

What sort of money are you looking for for the pinto

Wiring is very straight forward, if you used a sierra body loom then it should be more or less plug and play.

You will have no issues with imobalisers unless you get a ECU/Loom from a Bugeye Scorpio.

There are 2 types of 12V

The <91 with solid cam flowers and runs with air flow meters.
The >91 with hydraulic folowers and runs a MAP sensor and Lambda.

Either engine will work with either management.

Just got back from the few days away and have thought, my car weighs around 730kg, and when its done i will be wanting to A bar it around behind a motorhome, so that means as we know the max is 750kg to be towed unbraked, as it is classed as a trailer aswell.
So with a V6 and bigger box, the type e is only light, will be weigh over the 750kg, even more with the bigger wheels and tyres and the hard top fitted i have.

Si it looks like if i want tostill do this i will have to go back to the MX5 engine and box, or Zetec and keep the type e G box i have.

oh well another decision to sort out.

Or also an Ford ST170, looking good to me that one, but depends on the Type E gear box for it.
I read that the Type E gear box is good for 180bhp, si why does the Type 9 cope with less.

There is a V6 Type 9 that will take the 2.9 power, we use them on superstar running 160 @ wheels

Wont be going cossie 24v, bit to much power to me in a light car.

I will be using the 2.9i, found a few HD type 9 boxs, around £300 isnt all that bad, and i can get a bell housing sorted aswell.
