zetec engine fitment?

qestion to those who have fitted zetec engines how close is the engine placed to the bulkhead or TR8. cannot tell from some pics and I trial fitted my recently and left 50mm from rear of block that put the end of gearbox 100mm past TT5.
Do you think that is enough?
any help welcome
thanks tony

As far back as possible and enough to get bell housing bolts out, that top rail has been removed/moved on a few builds.

If you're using a type 9 it'll be the reverse switch, clutch lever and gear stick that determine how far back you can go.

I'm using a CVH (for now), so pretty similar engine configuration to the zetec. Its the thermostat housing that tries to occupy the same space as TR8, unless you go for an expensive water rail. I made a cut out in the rail and added another beneath to make up the strength

If you google "teamtrain Saturn" Spuds flickr contains pics of the roadster I put together and you can see how far back it will go,you can also see the stat housing from G20 Ginetta that fits in no bother and both sensors are in too.
The futher back it is helps with the balance.

I have just put some pictures of my zetec (silvertop) in the chassis. It is as far back and low ass I could get it. Pictures aren't great, but if you need any dimensions let me know and I will go out and measure.

Sounds good, I went to santa pod a few weeks ago and my mate I went with was rebuilding ayjays engine I think! Small world eh...

When you want to meet up and where?

hi leroy thanks for offer, just been on your blog and it looks like yours is not as far back as mine. Is that because the gear box you have is longer than type 9?
I will be putting unit back in again this time with clutch lever arm on because it looks really tight fit.
cheers anyway

hi,

Quite possibly. I could not get the engine any further back as the bell housing would foul the chassis rail but the mt75 is larger than a type9 so it may well look quite different.
