best way to flush the gearbox

Have started work on the build and have noticed the gearbox selector was without a gearstick and now has debris inside it like bits of paper and a AA battery so it needs to be flushed out my question is what is the best way to do it and what flushing fluid to use

Take the top cover off and fill it up with atf and drain it through the tail shaft housing, the rear bearings are metal caged so it will stop most of the kak getting in and then fill it with EP 80/90.

The selector shaft has a seal on it so no debris gets in an oil gets out.
You only get grease in the hole where your gear stick goes.

Oh ok well if that's the case just saved me a fortune in taking gearbox out can work out a way of moving reverse light switch that's pressed against the chassis and crack on with the rest of the car

Thanks for that

What type of grease should I use for the selector
