Tacking the chassis

Is a stick welder ok to use for tacking the chassis? Obviously not suitable to fully weld it I know.

The tack is just there to hold the pieces together to stop try and prevent any welding distortion, so i personally would say yes it will be ok, but you'll need to make sure any slag is removed before you fully weld with a MIG or TIG, otherwise you'll get impurities in the weld.

Yes this will be fine for tacking up with and even welding the chassis with if you are competent using it

It is just much easier and quicker to use a mig

As Tatey says make sure you remove all traces of slag from your tacks before welding over them

As above really.

Go for it but don't get too keen with the tacks....... You'll soon find a hole where you didn't want one  :D

Yep wouldn't say I'm the handiest with a stick welder but just thinking about the options. Thanks :D

I'm doing mine with arc. You get better penetration with arc. Don't turn the current up too far and you won't burn through.:)
