Dash Temp Sensor

Anyone got a photo of the temperature sender for the dash of a 1.8 cvh. I had assumed all Ford senders would be the same. However when I boil water (100 degrees on a thermometer) the dashboard indicator shows horizontal, but the fan kicks in on the rad temp switch. So the fan kicks in (as expected), but surely the engine isn't supposed to run at 100 degrees?

I'm thinking the dash is expecting a different range sensor to be connected. Mine has that standard ford 2 pin connector on the back, like the photo.

I havnt got a photo to hand but mine (also 1.8cvh) only had one terminal on the back of it.

Got it from my local motor factors for about £5
