New welder
My new welder just arrived :D
Not long now until I can actually start making parts of the car, next pay check is buying me some gas and some steel - scrap to practice on and some to begin making the chassis with. One thing I found odd though, it doesn't have a plug attached. It just has bare wires for me to fit my own plug to. Is this normal for welders? |
Yeah thats normal David. Normally 16A industrial plugs would be fitted to the welders. But they will happily work on 13A ones.
|
Cool, just thought I'd check as I've never had a welder before. I shall pick one up in the next few days.
|
technically you have to get an electrical to fit the plug coz of all these new laws. Bare that in mind.

"Eh, yeah, is that the council? I've just fitted a plug to my welder. Can you send someone around to check it, Thursdays are good for me. Thanks, Bye" |
deezee, I think Davey was saying that fitting the plug yourself doesn't need to be declared but if you were to fit a new electrical outlet to a wall then that would need to be declared.
At least, I hope so. I've fitted plenty of plugs to appliances and not declared them lol |
