Emmissions???

How do people with newer engines (eg. zetec) get through the emmisions test on an iva?

Is there even room to fit a cat on the exhaust??

My current car is a Ford KA, which i've fitted a 1.8 zetec engine in (pics on request, if anyone's bothered lol). So i'd like to put a 2.0 zetec in the project car, as i'm familiar with the zetec engines - just wondering how people get it to pass?

Also, after iva i'd like a carbed zetec :D

Here you go...

1.8 Mondeo Blacktop
Ashley 4 branch manifold
RS1800 inlet and ecu
2.0 MAF and Throttle body

It's a tight fit! lol

Here's a pic of the car...

Nice work David

Looks as if you have done a darn tidy job of that conversion :) :)

As for the Roadster, sports CATS are available & some Motor cycle Cans have a CAT built within them ;)

Hi David,

Just coming over from your other thread,

the easiest way is to put the car through on Sierra CVH on pre 92 emissions then you can easily upgrade to new Zetec and they don't know any different. I went that route originally and Mark, on here, has just passed on the same. You're upto 170bhp for the easiest and cheapest route possible.

If you're passing i'll take you out in the Saturn Car which is 2.0l Zetec on bike carbs and MegaJolt.

Just installed a full new electronic dash aswell and need to get out to test it anyway.

Mark if you are reading this i'm ready to borrow your gps to calibrate the speedo.......;)

Cheers.....AndyH

Only problem there would be needing 2 engines. I may aswell just go for a pinto on carbs until it blows up. haha.

I'm going down to "fiesta in the park" this weekend, but i'd love to come out with you sometime - Thanks for the offer! (assuming i could come up on a weekend) lol

Just as a side note - would a bike engine pass an iva emmisions test? or is that an "after engine" too?

Tilley's car passed the IVA with his Blackbird engined Roadster  :)
