Reaming front uprights

Sorry, I know its been asked a lot on this forum but I can't find anything in the old threads about exactly how much I need to ream the hole in the front upright to take the maxi ball joint.

How deep in should the ball joint go? Have people done it going on how much thread sticks out the top? Or the diameter of the hole top and/or bottom? I'll be setting the uprights up on a pillar drill tomorrow at a slow speed to make my life a little easier...

Cheers
Josh

Josh,

I can’t remember if it was enough to have the nut on and a few threads or the nut + 3mm (for the wing stay) and a few threads.

I reamed them so the ball joint came through until the smooth tapered bit was a few mm below the top of the hole.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Ginge
