Anybody building outside?

I've done the table. I'm ready to buy the tubing - and yes, I look forward to the marking and cutting.

Problem is I've ran out of space. I built an enclosed carport to house my build but that has slowly filled up with building materials for the additions I'm currently doing to my house.

I figure if I wrap the bottom of the table in plastic, seal the chassis tubing with red oxide, plug the open ends of the tubes and cover it all with a waterproof tarp, I should be OK.

What do you guys think??

Regards.

AshG started his build outside all be it under cover. As you have alluded to, keeping the rust monster at bay will be your biggest worry.

OK today it is 24°C here but harder when we get 4 weeks of rain.

Cheers Ginge

Thx for the pointer. I'll have a look see.

I remember one of my mild steel .. sculptures... I painted it black and covered it with a marine clear coat varnish.

That was 2 years ago. Not a single spot rust visible.

I built my first car on my drive. Not ideal but it can be done. Pain in the arse if you have to keep stopping for the weather.

Thx guys.

Once the main structure is fully welded I'll tack some castors onto it and roll it inside when I want to do some work on it.

Or...that's the plan.

Cheers.

just clamp the castors on with some coach bolts and strip of wood.

I just have a big dolly trolly for mine.
