bend/foldable plastic
I've been trying to remember what the clear plastic is called that you can put a near 180' bend in it with out it snapping? I know it's used in bus stops and rallycross for side windows. Any body know what it's called?

Perspex?
And just to fill out some extra letters because the forum won't let me post an 8 character message, who else knew there was a minimum message size? |
perspex wont bend, it's brittle. But it is what is used in bus shelter signs and motorsport side windows.

with heat you will be able to bend it though.
|
thin Polycarbonate sheet is very flexible without heating, its the stuff used to make conservatory roofing, but in sheet form instead, its quite expensive though.
|
Polycarbonate was my first guess but I looked up bus shelters and motorsport windows and came up with perspex lol

Lexan? Mylar?
|
Just found the answer on another forum, stuff I am looking for is lexan. You can slighty over bend it cold and it will keep it's shape. Ideal for making curved light covers like on a Fisher Fury,Deano,TVR etc. Thanks for all your efforts.
|
Isn't Lexan just a trademarked brand of polycarbonate?
|
To be honest I'm not sure if it's a trade name or not, all I know is that some polycarb. does not bend and tends to shatter when you bend it in a V die on a brake press.
