An introduction

Just wanted to say hi to everyone

I've just bought the "Build your own Sports Car on a Budget" and I'm looking forward to building another kitcar for myself. My first attempt at building a kitcar from the ground up was a Formula27 back in 1992,it took me 5yrs to complete,I know,I know, a long time, mainly due to money/time/first baby on the way etc.I finally finished it in 1997 where I competed in the CCC hillclimb championship.

Ending up selling the car due to kids/financial/real life reasons.
Years later I rebuilt a VFR400 NC30 R3,this rebuild took approx 18 months of hard work etc with a lot of custom parts.

Which ended up like this after 2 days of being on the road

I haven't rode since the accident(2006) due to the fact there are just to many idiots on the roads.
I had a trip to Cadwell Park the other weekend which has sparked my interest in cars/motorsport once again. So the plan is to build a car with a bike engine or a BEC as I've seen them called!
Hopefully I'll get the best of both worlds, relative safety of a car but with the speed/sound/rush you get with a bike.
Regards
Darren

A warm welcome to the forum Darren :)

Some nice pics of a very nice car there, the bike is stunning, such a shame it ended up the way it did  ....looks like the old excuse "didn,t see ya mate" from the truck driver? I,m a biker too ;) ex racer too....love riding at Cadwell.

This is a very friendly forum with lots of helpful members who are all building the same car so everyone understands what "hiccups" we all come across from time to time.

Best wishes for your build.

cheers
andy

A very warm welcome to the forum Darren :)

There are quite a few builders on here going the bec route, I am sure that you will get plenty of advice if needed.

Some cracking photos there

Seem to remember, that is how I ended up everytime I got on a bike :o

I wish you well with your new build :)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys

Just looking at whether to cut the box section for the chassis myself or buy a pre cut one.I remember all the cutting I had to do with the F27 :p

Wecome
If I was going to do it again I'd buy precut as it takes so much time to cut it all up
