Terminal types

Afternoon all.

For those of you who have/are going to make your own loom, what have you gone for in terms of terminals?
  • Insulated
  • Non-insulated with their little rubber covers
  • Non-insulated with heat shrink over them

And, as an aside, have people crimped them, or soldered them?

Cheers

For my two p's worth the rachet crimpers are good to use and get a good hold.

I crimp mine with a decent ratchet, then give them a bit of a tug afterwards to check they are secure. Only time I use solder is when I need to join cables mid-length.

Insulator will depend in the circumstances, but I like to use the rigid black pastic tyopes that go on afterwards. If I can't use those due to space, or small terminal then I use heatshrink.
