Tr5 !!??
This might sound a silly question but .... What exactly is the engine bay rail TR5 for !!??
Probably a straightforward answer to this but was unable to find any reference to the subject using the search feature  I'll tell you why I am asking .... Was up at the breakers today & found a plastic Zetec plenum chamber sitting there asking to be bought home :) The alloy plenum sits way too high & would need quite a large power bulge in the bonnet !! The plastic plenum on the other hand, sits a great deal lower. Any how's I would like to try it for size on my engine .... Yep, you have guessed. TR5 is in the way  No problem cutting out but I don't really see how I am going to replace it with anything similar in that particular area !!?? All thoughts welcome :) |
Hi Ronnie,
TR5 is just an engine bay brace, on the original Roadster it was fitted & didn,t cause a problem with the engine used ( Pinto ), so, almost all other engine fitments will require TR5 to be removed ( Mine included), but its worthwhile fitting some corner braces approx 8 inches in length between TR1 / TR2 to TR8, as these will work in unison as much as possible with TR6 & TR7 to brace the engine bay. Hope this helps cheers andy |
Thank's Andy
Cheer's for that :)
I would at least like to try the plastic inlet manifold to see how it will fit, going to need a little re-work of the steering extension but it could save me a whole bundle of time fabbing a custom plenum ;) Ideally, I would like to get the engine running on more or less, standard components. That way, I will Know what effect any changes made to the system are. To be honest, just wanting the get the engine up & running as quickly as possible :o :D |
Ronnie,
I moved mine to the opposite side (exhaust -CVH). Thought it better to have something than nothing at all. It got in the way of my carbs etc. |

Leave it off Ronnie till the engine is fitted then add a cross brace where it fits. Regards....AndyH |
