Hi Guys

found this great site by accident and what a revelation..

Im a new guy on the block, all the way from the land of big five, South Africa.
I retired recently at an age of 54 years young and now have time to do things I always wanted to do and one of them was to build a Lotus 7 clone. After 30 years in the making, I finally started to build it.

Im big weighing 130kg and this moved me to go for a McSorley 442E chassis to get my frame and number 11 feet fitted into. There are kits available but as a qualified boilermaker, I just do not trust a weld unless performed by yours truly and gone the scratch build way....

My car will be powered by a Zetec 2.0 blacktop (mk3) fitted with either side draft carbs or throttle bodies but the jury is still out on that. Furthermore, the flywheel will be lighten and a decent tubular exhaust system fitted. Im aiming for about 140kw / 185hp.
The engine will be mated to a type 9 five speed Sierra Ford box.

My chassis is complete with all wishbones made and temporally fitted. The rear is a Rorty IRS (drws in error) and 3.7:1 ratio Sierra diff unit fitted.

I hope to get some expert advice here as I am building bare back without a book:eek: and only from drws, bits and pieces gathered from the net.
