Just started so thought I'd say hi!

Just thought I'd introduce myself, just started a build after gettin the book for christmas, have got all excited and made a build table and found a J plate mx5 with decent mechanicals which is already part stripped, got it for £300 and it has a good hood and interior and quite a few other bits that'll end up on ebay. It had stood for a few months but fresh fuel and battery charge and it fired straight away and seems in decent order.

Plan to use as much of the mx5 as poss. have spent hours on airheads blog and plan to do something very similar, though I'll make all the bits myself to keep costs as low as poss. want the car to be more of a cruiser and everyday car rather than racer (I used to use a Marlin as everyday car in the mid 80's).

Have spent the last 10 years building rally cars so am pretty confident with welding and mechanicals and plan to use glass panels from Saturn (going down for a visit on Sat to have a look and say hello).

I am another builder in north east based in Bedlington Northumberland, would be interested in getting together with other local builders to share ideas and drink beer.

Cheers

Bloomin eck,

Another NorthEasater....

A Marlin is a luxurious daily driver compared to the avarage roadster, but you can make the roadster however you like.

Welcome.

Yeah, round Teeside lots of waste chemicals, and some big ships that the Americans did not want to take apart for some reason.....

Wish we could get some of that dodgy water down here in Herefordshire, not many builders near me... they all got Chelsea tractors instead

Hi John, I was born in Bedlington many years ago. I live in Calgary, Canada now. I hope to be starting my build soon.
Must be something in the atmosphere in that part of the country?

cheers,

Bill.

Hello John,

We are getting a good crowd of builders up here in the North East, will be nice to see another one cracking on.

We have a few builders coming down to the unit tomorrow morning John, about 10 ish, with a new builder from South Shields who is just about to start to.

You're more than welcome for a coffee and chat if you like, might even get a trip out if its not too cold.

Regards....AndyH
