Shock absober brackets

Hi,
I need to make two of the shock absorber brackets to be fitted under CP3 and CP4.
I cannot compute (with Solid Edge) the flat part on pg 148 in the book, to achieve the ref dimensions given for the folded part.
Is the brackets made by various people/companies 34mm wide (inside), and the 12,5mm holes are 27mm up from the bottom of the brkt? If so I rather make the brkt fit the 34 and 27 dim and forget about the flat pattern.

For the rest of the chassis wishbone and schock brkts I will most certainly buy made ones.

The inside dim needs to be 34mm.Definately easier to buy them as for what they cost i dont think its worth the time and effort.here are a few companies who make them

Tanks ozzy1, I agree totally about buying them. Not worth fiddling and making them in the numer that is needed. But for the time being I need two for the cp3 and cp4 to finnish of the rear sus area, and I was planning to make them myself.
When the day comes I will cosolidate a bit more stuff that I need to be ordered so I can save up on freight charges.
Do you know if the hight from the bottom of the bracket up to the 12.5mm hole should be 27mm?

Hi bz100

Looking at the drawing on page 184, the centre of the hole is indeed 27mm from the underside of the shock bracket once bent :)

Mine are made to this spec & are fine.

Welcome to the forum too  :) :)

Great and many thanks Bonzo.:)

As said previously I will only make two of them for now and buy the rest of the brackets later
Cheers

If i can just offer up a word of warning, I used a guy off the bay for mine, biggest mistake of my life. I only got the parts from him after I threatened to report him to ebay. This was Rogue engineering and he even got the final delivery wrong as it came two brackets short, but i cut my losses as I had finally recieved something and will make the last two myself, so please be warned he trades under the name of Daveo1121

The brackets under the rear plate that the roll bar sits on could be made using flat plate, just adjust the hole centre to compensate for not having the material thickness of the u bracket...knock up a jig to suit the shocks and bingo weld them on......simples.;)

Another way of making damper brackets is to use 40x40x3mm box section measured to the required height , drill the holes in from each side not straight through and cut the face off with the seam in it. This is how most of the brackets where made for the Ron Champion locost.

Thank you guys. I did the brackets as Mark suggested, and it has worked out fine. :) Will upload more pictures tomorrow as I forgot my camera in the workshop.
Cheers
