IVA and rear Disc brakes

Has anybody passed IVA with rear disc's ? i am plumbing them in at the moment when i had a thought that a limiting device may have to be fitted .. am using scorpio granada disc's all round ...used my usual research...Enochs homepage !! but cant find the valve he used anywhere on the net !

Hi Andy

Not using rear discs on my build but looking at Enochs build diary, it very much looks as he has used the standard Sierra inertia valve.

They can be bought new from here

Brakes International

Regulator Valve: Part number: HRV1069

Not exactly much help with your question but at least you will know where to find one, should it be needed ;) :)

A lot of the new ish Fords have reducers in the rear feeds to the flexy pipes, looks much more professional.

Cheers mate BUT

Dummy me cant find that part, what specific car did you use to come up with the part number...my excuse for my thickness is i have just finished a run of 13hr night shifts...

You can fInd it on the 1800 Turbo Diesel I looked earlier today, it's £50.17 without the bracket and i'm not so sure they don't have to be angled correctly

mmm bit rich for my blood at that price...thinking i might just plumb them straight in without one...i have the bigger granada scorpio front discs and calipers ...hoping that they will counter the rears...if not its not too much ball ache to plumb in a valve...heres hoping !!

I have the same hope as you Andy_B ;)

I bought Mondeo V6 front calipers for 278mm disks - same setup as in Scorpio/Granada Cosworth 2.9 and standard rear Sierra calipers/disks.

When I was calulating results with some brake calculator - it should works :D It depends on master cylinder... but there is a hope ;)
I plan to use Omega A master cylinder with 22mm/19mm pistons... smaller for fronts - like in pedalboxes.

Humm im in the same situation as well. I have granada rear disks and calipers but my fronts are Sierra. so smaller... I need to do some research into what the best option to get the front to an equal or larger size than the rear.

flyerncle 14th March 2011 01:32 PM

Using parts from large cars ie Granada etc could cause the problem of overbraking for the weight of the car. The Roadster will be approx a third the weight.

Eternal 14th March 2011 04:48 PM

indeed over breaking might be an issue but becaues my chassis is extended and im using steel floor, huge engine and going hard top the car with weigh alot more than a light weight 7.
Also went into the garage to measure my discs... lol rear disc is 273mm vented from a scorpio cosworth 4 stud. The front is 240mm standard vented sierra disc but whats really anoying is the sierra stuff is all new/recon so no use when i upgrade. Think i will look into going 280mm discs on front. As it just does not seem right to have larger disks on the rear lol

Edit: after doing some research just need to get hold of cosworth sierra/granada front calipers (stamped 887/888) and disc then drill out the hole to fit. Not to bad afterall!
