rare as hens teeth

I plan to use my donor for everything apart from the engine, will prob upgrade to a LSD when funds allow.Anyway, I am trying to track down a pre Aug '95 2.0 silvertop zetec which is proving difficult.

I dont even mind buying a complete Mondeo because it will work out cheaper according to my logic:
A Mondeo goes for about £200, an engine on its own is around £150! but i can weigh the mondeo in after I take the engine out and get most of my cash back!

Snag is they are very few and far between, I do not want to travel more than 60 miles really (120 miles round trip). Anyone know someone that might be able to help? Getting an engine delivered is also expensive!

That's the way I went after buying a diesel donor and it took me months to track down a decent engine. Finding a low-ish mileage engine is a pain.

Really? I drove 7 hours one way, 14 round trip to pick up a crossflow motor I bought on Ebay

Cost of fuel and MPG plays a big part here.

14hrs round trip would equate to something like 840 Miles. at 35MPG in my car (at best) is 24 Gallons which at £6.12 a gallon is £147

I would have put the engine on a pallet and had it shipped.

Yes thanks Arf, I got ur voicemail I will give them a call tomorrow if they are open and bag it. Only 30 miles away, ace. Hopefully it will be a pre 95 engine!

TT, you beat me to it, fuel costs play a big part nowadays. If you travel too far it becomes non viable. Or am i just tight!

When you speak to them tell them its the one that has only just come in its not in the yard, I started it up from cold started first turn of the key and sounded ok and the guy said it would be around £150

NEW YORK — The national average for self-serve regular unleaded gas was $3.88 a gallon on April 22, up 11.53 cents per gallon from April 8, according to the nationwide Lundberg Survey.

Your gallon is 160 oz, whereas ours is only 128 oz. So that would be $4.85 per UK gallon. and 4.85 USD = 2.9378 GBP

People in the US are really mad about the high cost of gasoline.

leroybrown911 25th April 2011 08:23 AM

If you guys in the states are mad, just think how p**sed off we are. You are still paying less than half what we are over here!
