seat fitment

how does everyone fasten there seats to the chasis i'm not using runners so was just thinking of welding brackets straight onto chasis is this considered to be okay

Thanks

i just welded two 3.5mm straps from the top of the outer rails to the top of the tranny tunnel rails and bolted the seats to them with m10 bolts and big washers. Can jump up and down on them and theres no movement whatsoever.

I welded in 2 bits of 25mm box across the gap between tranny tunnel and outer rails. On the passenger side, using runners on the drivers

Why not just bolt them to the floor

shh120m 1st May 2011 01:59 PM

id be a bit worried about the floor falling off, especially if its just riveted on

Ashtonr 1st May 2011 02:22 PM

Did this on a previous car that passed IVA should be fine there should be oots of rivets in the floor anyway

Richard Dryden 1st May 2011 04:21 PM

Thanks for all the advice can't bolt to the floor as seats are side fastening but can just make up some suitable brackets to hold them, cheers
