Wiring A focus 1.6 zetec

Hi there,
I was thinking of buying an engine and was wondering if I buy a focus engine (1998) 1.6 petrol zetec) do i need to also get the ecu and wiring loom?
If i put carbs on the engine, would i need any of this? or how much wiring is there to be done to it to get it going?
Thanks very much,
Darryl.

A 1998 focus will have PATS, and put it this way most people in the Ford modding world stay clear of PATS ECU's

A early mondeo or escor zetec loom and ECU could be used.

But if you are going for 3rd party fueling then you wont need the ford stuff and can fit whatever you like.

Thanks for the reply.
O right i see.
If i got a 1998 or newer zetec engine and then put on carbs or whatever, what electrical system do i need? do i still need the factory ecu, ect..?
Thanks
Darryl

if you have no iva then all post 95 engins will need a cat and fuel injection running closed loop
a couple of ways i can think of is to use an older ecu (pre pats) or go down the programable ecus
