How far should the scuttle overlap the side rails?
 

How far should the scuttle overlap the side rails on the saturn bodywork to keep them flushish.

The scuttle should over hang 3mm each side to compensate for the material thickness of the grp side panels. Bonnet and nose cone should be the same.

Made a start on the side panel cut outs this evening, I guess there's going to be quite a bit of juggling and fettling to git it all sitting together nicely.

It took me a good couple of evenings to get it right then still cocked up the last cut, between the side panel and tub.

I also found the best way to get the overlap was to put the side panels on then the scuttle as the panels varied in size along the inside.

If there is a build up of material in the internal corners then you may have to buzz it down witha buzzing thing so it sits nice on the chassis...go steady though.
Better to fit side panels then clamp scuttle in place then the bonnet then the nose this way you can maintain a neat join between them all.

Patience is the key and don't forget to wear a dust mask when cutting grp as it's queer old stuff
