Seat Mounts

I've tacked in two 25x25mm tubes per seat to mount my seat runners on.
At the tranny tunnel end I have a gap like this:

What's the best (or most IVA friendly) way to deal with this?

Is it ok to just fill it with weld, or should I add some little plates?

I filled mine with weld. Not a problem.

One thing i'd reccommend while your at this stage, is get some pics of both sides of the lower seatbelt mounts (fully welded both sides). My IVA inspector struggled to see mine, and had to ask his collegue for a second opinion.

Luckily they decided to pass it, but if i'd had pics it would have been alot easier.

I tapped mine down with a pointed hammer and then welded. TBH they probably would be happy with it welded part way round anyway.

It's not good practise to fill big gaps with weld on a tubular frame, cut another piece of tube the right size and weld that it in. You will feel better for it in the end:)

+1

It'll only annoy you in the future... :)

Don't worry, they'll be more than enough bodges on the car to annoy me!
At least that one will be covered by the seats so I won't see it :D

25 into 19 does not go  .If height is not a big problem use 3mm x 25 or 50 flat strip to mount the seats across the floor from chassis rail to tranny tunnel, you can always bend both ends up and over to suit, prettier and stronger.

My original plan was to use 3mm x 50mm strip, and I had some cut to length ready to go in.
However when my seat runners arrived they dissagreed with the idea. The adjusters on them would have got in the way of the floor.
I had a load of spare 25x25 so thought I may as well use it.
Thing is they're in there now and I'm too lazy to grind them out and too cheap to buy some 19x19 instead
Just need to decide how to tackle the gap.
