big big engine
 
hi will a 4.6l rover v8 engine and gearbox fit in the standard haynes roadster chassis?
has anyone got any pictures of this?

It may well do, I don't know but the main ethos behind a lotus 7 replica is all about being lightweight. And you have to consider how it might handle with such a large engine up front. I can't imagine it would turn in very well and would have understeer.

All doable and rover lump is lighter than some of the fourpots out there, rover = 318 lbs pinto= 320 lbs

Currently fitting v8 sbf 302 and it looks lost in the hole.. that weighs app 411lbs but with ally heads,manifold and waterpump fitted they come down to 320lbs and are only 21" high. Pinto 27" high.

I've a got a BMW v8 in a locost +4 chassis, anything's possible if you plan it all out and measure up before you start. And mine is very wide indeed due to it being a 90 degree vee and quad cam.

The 4.6 should fit but it will be a squeeze, i was origionally using a 3.5 v8, in the end i switched to a zetec as it was taking too much time / effort & cash.
