engine for spotty teenager

My mate has decided to copy bolt for bolt what i am building and now has just placed an order with phil for a chassis for his teenage boy, so now there are to be three. I am not going to say what i think till i have had a lightening conductor fitted, anyway i am faced with trying to source an engine 1 litre or smaller that can be swapped easily with something bigger at a later date. Whats out there that will take a rwd gearbox and side engine mounts.also that has a bigger brother in the line up for later on???????????

Get an insurance quote first, the engine size may make very little difference.

a 1.6 CVH would be a reasonable start, could be swapped for an RST 1.6CVH and then a 2.0 Zetec as time goes by.

Little endura E engine from a ford Ka. Will go on a t9 and upgrade to a zetec at a latter date.

Go older to a fiesta and they run a carb with electronic ignition. They will run on two wires power and earth.

Its got to be 1ltr or smaller to get a sensible quote . Have already been down this road on insurance. That three cylinder thing in the small corsa, is the four cylinder the same but just one more pot?

I seem to remember from my youth that ford did do a 1400 cvh if that would help not sure what gearbox would fit also they did do the old fiesta 1.1 and 950cc engines again unsure about engine mounts and gearbox bellhousing but it could be worth looking into for a start just my thoughts on the subject

I think its looking like that small fiesta engine as its kent based. Does it still use the same bellhousing patern?

Not sure he could set the tunnel up for type 9 and use an old escort box that should fit

The early fiesta engine was the one that sprang to my mind Bob :)

I am sure that they fitted one that was 1L ( 950'ish cc ? )

As far as I know, it will be the same bolt pattern as the Sierra type 9 gearbox .

No idea if any clutch or flywheel mods will need to be made though.

Fireblade as below 1000cc just don't say it's a bike engine with 3 times the horsepower of an uncle festa motor:D
