Front uprights
 

Hi i was just wondering if anyone is aware of a alternative front upright to the ford sierra up rights, i would like to try and get my chassis rolling and thought i could buy some uprights from the breakers or new from ford and then wondered if people are now using an alternative.

To match the wishbones you need the Sierra upright. If your willing to modify the chassis suspension mounts you can use any one else's. Mazda MX5 , Caterhams own, Locost (Cortina uprights). Its up to you.

I'd recommend the Mazda MX5 if your struggling with the Sierra. Plenty of them about and Saturn Sports Cars can help you out with the modifications required.

We are using the the granada/cortina type on two of the builds with rose joints on the inners and standard on the uprights. There is no need to modify the uprights then and any adjustments are done on the inner rose joints.

where are you in the world i have spare sets of sierra hubs if your stuck
or rally design do brand new ones but no way near as cheep as getting and cleaning up some old ones and putting a new set of wheel brg's in (not expensive)

Thanks for your reply I started building back in 2008 and have had various hold ups over the years, I hope to at least get my chassis finished this year.I am not sure why but suddenly thought are there going to be enough sierras around to complete it.and having spent so time over the summer getting some work done didn't, want to change tack now, I have seen hubs on eBay and wondered if they were refurbishable also spotting some in a rallydesign advert But that was in a an old mag. at the rate I am going I think my biggest problem will Be if petrol will still be available by the time it's finished.
