Steering column length
 

Hi everybody,
The steering column has to be extended, but I can't find anywhere how long it has to be.
As I would like to buy one in one piece rather than extending the one of the donor car (I'm building a Sierra based Haynes Roadster), can anybody tell me how long (more or less) the column has to be please ?

I think the extension I put into mine was around 400-500mm. It's pretty easy to extend, you just chop one of the bits of the column in two and then weld those 2 bits into either end of a steel tube.

OK, thank you Brainbug. I was just wondering if I can find directly one with the right length. But if you say you extended yours from 400 to 500mm, it means that the complete column is pretty long, and it will be hard to find.
