Parts supplier thread?

Is it appropriate to have a parts supplier thread? Is there one already?

I was thinking not only general parts but specific haynes parts.

We all know about SSC, Talon and Vodou. Are there many other suppliers that people would be confident to recommend for Haynes parts?

I am also thinking of those members with good fab skills who offer fuel tanks, steering rack mounts etc that may differ from the book.

I have noticed there isn't a for sale section. Is there a reason for this? I think it may be useful for people to shift specific haynes parts they haven't used and traders to offer their wares.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Threats? :D

I think it's a good idea, certainly a for sale section to include surplus parts offered for sale by other builders but also for other builders to offer a miscellaneous parts supply, as you say fuel tanks, mushroom adapters etc, to help fund their build. I am sure a registered trader status would be appropriate giving new builders some confidence in purchasing.

I am sure the two new moderators and two existing ones will be getting their heads together soon to put together a solution in the best interest of the forum....;)

gbs/kitspares where advertising haynes roadster and locost parts will be availble soon at the exeter show
thay also now offer a few parts that ford have discontinued like bearing caps for front uprights and do a nice cheap basic rack mount kit that would be handy for any kit builder

I can not see it happening to be honest but I stand to be corrected.

Every good forum should a section with stuff for sale, does not matter if individuals or commercial as long as it directly relates, it helps every builder.
Check out this forum it started just like this one. http://www.corvetteforum.com

Traders should subscribe and pay a monthly fee to be able to offer goods and services.

How about drumming up a new user name eg haynesbitz or something like it with the same name for the password. Then as a good supplier is found they can be entered on as a thread and if they falter one bit they can be wiped off by the members.Would always be easy to find as it would be a member. That way its members run and maintained without haynes having to be compromised liability wise.

Just thoughts.

Nah.....getting into a whole different ball game with unecessary complications
simple honesty and if that is not upheld then mods can simply 'bar' that person from selling/buying.....well that is my opinion anyway
